Some of the worst Indian advertisements

Commercials are basically all around us from billboards to radio, from television to YouTube. Ads are everywhere promoting some kind of product or service. In some cases, these audio-visual formats are pure gems intriguing the viewer interest with their story and purpose. However, sometimes we come across ads that are just absurd and cringeful.

1.      Ching Noodles- Their ad film featuring Ranveer Singh shows a dystopian society exactly ripped off from some Hollywood movie. Ranveer singh wearing a native American head gear comes to the rescue of society, but wait he starts dancing and singing with the actress Tamannaah and then saves them from the bad guys. This whole ad which looks like a trailer for an action movie turns out to be an advertisement for Ching noodles.

2.      Revital- Salman Khan has such impact with his fan that no matter what product he uses or promotes, his fan will buy it without a doubt and might advertise it further themselves. Salman Khan endorses Revital a daily health supplement, in the ad he is shown having a healthy lifestyle and Revital helps him cope with his stressful schedule. But than comes the weirdest scene ever Salman Khan catching a rugby ball Infront of football goal.

3.      Fair and lovely- Most of the Fair and lovely ads are deplorable, usually advertising that if you have dark skin you have no future and by using their product you can become popular and successful. This ad film shows a father being angry at her dark-skinned daughter and wishing he had a son. Disappointed by the remark the daughter uses the cream and becomes an air hostess and takes the family to 5-star hotel.

4.      Colgate Maxfresh Toothpaste- Ranveer singh is again back on the list with his Colgate ad. The ad film shows Ranveer waking up and looking outside of his window, which for some weird reason opens inside a railway station and he sees that everyone is asleep and lazy. Next our hero brushes his teeth and jumps out into the railway station and releases his freshness crystals. This wakes up everyone, and they all start dancing with synchronized tune.

5.      Rajnigandha- Pan Masala companies have some really ridiculous idea for promoting their products. If you want to become a billionaire, you have to eat pan masala. At some point of time you might also be able to buy countries. One of Rajnigandha ad film shows the protagonist buying a lavish hotel because his father used to work there for 30 years. He enters the room dramatically and starts speaking to foreigners in Hindi and gives all the credit of his success to Rajnigandha pan masala.

Breaking down Indian Classical Ads

What makes some ads so evergreen that if someone just played its jingle, you are able to identify the brand in seconds. For a mere fraction of the ad the entire product and your emotions for the brand all come flooding into your memory. Let’s have a look at some of the very popular ads and analyse what make them stick. We know that every aspect of nonverbal communication is crucial in making an impactful and memorable ad, but here we are going to analyse what specific role body language can play in order to make these classical ads so recollectible years after they stop broadcasting.
